About CMTO

CMTO was established by the Government of Ontario to regulate the practice of Massage Therapy. We govern the conduct of Massage Therapists (called RMTs or MTs) to ensure you receive safe, effective and ethical treatment.

CMTO protects the public interest by:

  • Setting requirements for becoming an RMT. Only qualified professionals are registered to practise.
  • Our public register helps you verifiy that an RMT is qualified to practise.
  • We set and enforce practice standards so that you and your family can receive safe, ethical, and competent Massage Therapy treatment.
  • We have a Quality Assurance program so that RMTs keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date.
  • We are there to help should you have a concern or complaint about your Massage Therapist.
